The Language of Dissent: Rosy Carrick Workshop

When: Saturday, 25th November 2017 4:00 PM

Does poetry have the power to change our society? Our culture? Other people’s minds? And if so, what is your revolution and how can you best express it? From the work of Russian revolutionary poet Vladimir Mayakovsky to our present-day political writers, join Rosy Carrick for a 2 hour creative writing workshop that explores the fascinating relationship between language and revolution.

Rosy Carrick is a writer, performer, translator and compere. She is co-curator of the Port Eliot Poetry Stage and has been at the helm of the Brighton poetry scene for the last decade. She has a PhD on the Russian revolutionary poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, and has released two books of his work in translation, Volodya (Enitharmon, 2015), and Vladimir Ilyich Lenin(Smokestack, 2017).

You can also see Rosy perform at Pen:Chant: Protest & Revolution

TICKET DEAL: If you’d like to attend the workshop and the Pen:Chant night, simply add a free workshop ticket to your basket and add a full price ticket for the performance evening of your choice (24 or 25 Nov) to your basket too. At checkout, add the promo code WORKSHOP to get both for £5.
